Yoga is a combination of postures, stretches, breathing and meditation. All yoga styles incorporate
movements that encourage the body to stretch and hold poses or asanas. Each movement, stretch or asana helps the mind be more aware of a particular part of the body and encourages a union between
the body, mind and soul.
Here are 7 stretches commonly used across Yoga practices that can be done by anyone:

  1. Cat and Cow Pose: This is a posture that is gentle on the body and works well for improving mobility in your spine, shoulders, neck and core.
  2. Thread the Needle Pose: A pose that is great to release tension in the upper back, shoulders, neck and arms.
  3. Childs Pose: A calming and relaxing pose to help open up the hips, thighs, pelvic region and ankles.
  4. Downward Facing Dog: A great pose to encourage circulation between the hips, hamstrings and calves.
  5. Mountain Pose: This pose helps with balance and concentration while strengthening your hips and feet.
  6. Chair Pose: This pose is similar to a squat. It’s a pose to strengthen your legs, glutes, upper back and shoulders.
  7. Shravasana: A pose usually done at the end of a session to calm the mind, body, nervous and digestive systems and boost immunity.
